The Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University invites applications for three full-time positions commencing in August 2025 to teach first-year and upper-level courses in the College of Law's highly ranked Legal Method and Writing program. Minimum Qualifications:

· At least 2 years of experience in law practice, or in teaching law to JD students;

DIRECTOR OF CIVIL LITIGATION CLINIC:
The path-breaking Clinical Program of the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University seeks applications for a full-time Clinical Associate/Professor of Law position at the rank of Associate/Full Instructional Professional as the Director of the Civil Litigation Clinic. Both entry-level and lateral candidates are encouraged to apply.
One of the earliest clinics in the nation, the Civil Litigation Clinic, has addressed a broad range of topics over the years. The clinic's mission is to train law students to become effective, compassionate practitioners through direct representation of clients in litigation that is closely supervised by the Clinical Associate/Professor of Law. The clinic also provides classroom instruction and individual mentoring. In fulfilling its mission to educate students to become effective practitioners, the clinic strives to promote access to justice by offering free legal services to people who do not have adequate resources to hire a private attorney. The Civil Litigation Clinic is one of ten legal clinics in the Law School's Clinical Program. The successful candidate's vision for shaping the clinic will be a key consideration in the civil litigation focus areas going forward.
Clinical Program positions offer a professional environment with job security that exceeds the requirements of ABA Standard 405(c). ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Design the focus and structure of the clinic in collaboration with the law school's administration.
- Select client representations consistent with the mission and goals of the clinic.
- Train JD-level students to provide direct representation of clients.
- Litigate civil cases with students on behalf of clients.
- Provide individualized feedback on student analysis, writing, and representation.
- Collaborate to expand ASU Law's civil justice program.
- Teach other courses as needed within the law school curriculum.
- Increase outreach to the community.
- Participate in professional activities. This may take the form of giving scholarly presentations, publishing in professional journals or other publications, serving on committees or in leadership roles in professional organizations, or other activities as appropriate to the professional community.
- Work collaboratively as part of the broader Clinical Program on programmatic initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to advance the principles of access, excellence, and impact in the ASU charter.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- A license to practice law from a state bar.
- Meets the bar good standing requirements of Arizona Supreme Court Rule 38(d), such that the person would be able to obtain a license to practice law in Arizona promptly upon hiring.
- At least five years of civil litigation practice or related experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated skills in legal analysis, and oral and written advocacy.
- A record of demonstrated excellence in teaching or supervising JD students.
- Strong organizational skills.
- A strong academic record.
- Strong potential for public outreach and leadership in the field.
