Incumbent Statement

A member of the Arizona bar since 1998, Tricia Schafer just settled her last case as a litigator and is ecstatic to be a full-time neutral. She has been a mediator and arbitrator since 2021, and last year formed Tricia Schafer Dispute Resolution PLLC, to focus exclusively on the private resolution of commercial disputes.

Tricia holds certifications from Pepperdine University’s Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution and the American Institute of Mediation.

In addition to private mediation services, Tricia is a Judge Pro Tempore in Maricopa County Superior Court. As an arbitrator, Tricia serves on the American Arbitration Association’s commercial and consumer panels.

Tricia seeks a third term on the Scottsdale Bar Association Board. For more than a quarter-century, she has maintained strong affiliations with local bar associations, crediting the connections made there with her deep and multifaceted network.

Connecting people with opportunities, activities, occupations, and each other comes very naturally to Tricia. Her leadership role in the SBA has been a springboard for much of her own professional evolution, and she would like to continue to give back. In recent years, she has served as the Technology Committee co-chair, and jumps into assist with other committees and projects as needed.

Raised in a small coastal town in Oregon, Tricia earned her B.A. in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley and her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. This year commemorates her 10th anniversary in her Central Scottsdale home – the longest she has ever lived at the same address.
